Description:You will be the Chief Engineer (Principal) – Avionics & Open Mission Systems for the Avionics & Open Mission Systems team which is responsible for advanced avionics and mission system development.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Chief Engineer (Principal) – Avionics & Open Mission Systems you will be responsible for providing architectural integrity, engineering governance, and lifecycle technical oversight across development, integration, certification, and sustainment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Serve as the Chief Technical Authority for avionics and mission systems.
- Define and maintain architectures aligned with OMS, MOSA, SOSA, and AMS‑GRA.
- Establish engineering governance, baselines, and risk management processes.
- Chair or support technical reviews such as SRR, PDR, CDR, and TRR.
- Oversee avionics integration, qualification, and certification activities.

Your strategic vision and hands‑on experience enable you to interface effectively with government and industry partners, ensuring mission success.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance.
Basic Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (Master’s preferred).
• 12+ years of avionics engineering experience.
• Experienced Lead Systems Engineer, or Principal Engineer.
• Demonstrated knowledge of OMS, MOSA, SOSA, and/or AMS-GRA.
• Strong technical leadership and communication skills.
Desired Skills:• Experience as a Chief Engineer
• Experience with military or safety-critical avionics systems.
• Experience with fighter or advanced tactical aircraft avionics.
• Familiarity with SOSA, FACE, VPX, and VITA standards.
• Experience supporting DoD acquisition programs.
• Active DoD security clearance.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
Clearance Level: Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
