Job Description Summary
Coach, drive, and lead lean behaviors, principles, and tools by partnering with various teams and departments throughout GE Aerospace Assembly & Test Organization. This role will work closely with the FLIGHT DECK Leader and be an integral part of the Durham Engine Kaizen Promotion Office (KPO).
The FLIGHT DECK Specialist will lead and drive continuous improvement initiatives across Durham Engine Facility using the FLIGHT DECK lean operating model. This role is critical in ensuring the highest standards of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) are met. The practitioner will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement lean methodologies, enhance operational efficiency, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the deployment and sustainment of the FLIGHT DECK lean operating model across various departments and teams.
- Conduct value stream mapping, identify waste, and support teams and programs with process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Facilitate kaizen events, workshops, and training sessions to educate and engage teammates in lean principles and practices.
- Utilize lean tools such as 5S, Kanban, and root cause analysis to drive problem-solving and process optimization.
- Collaborate with teams to align lean initiatives with business goals and objectives.
- Mentor and coach team members to build lean capabilities and sustain a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ensure all lean activities prioritize safety and comply with regulatory and company standards.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of manufacturing experience)
- Minimum of 3 years of lean practitioner or continuous improvement roles in a manufacturing environment experience
Desired Characteristics and Experience
- Well-developed analytical skills and ability to analyze complex processes.
- Experience in a lean practitioner role responsible for executing lean initiatives or held continuous improvement roles in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong communicative skills and ability to influence and operate at multiple organizational levels.
- Deep understanding of lean and related areas (six sigma, TPM, TPS)
- Certification in Lean or Six Sigma (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Black Belt)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
