RISE is a next-generation engine concept for future narrow-body aircraft, and the Assembly team is seeking an NPI Manufacturing Engineer focused on tooling equipment design.
In this role, you will support New Product Introduction by helping develop new assembly manufacturing systems and ensuring that design intent is translated into robust, efficient production solutions. As part of the Assembly department, you will prioritize design for manufacturing, provide feedback to design teams, resolve manufacturing issues, and deliver documentation, tooling, and training to support safe, clean, and efficient production. The position targets motivated, open-minded candidates eager to learn new engineering fields and take on technical challenges.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
Hands-on problem solving: Work directly with operations and engineering teams to resolve technical issues using data-driven approaches and structured methodologies
Design collaboration: Influence design engineering to ensure manufacturability and assembly considerations are integrated throughout the product development process
Process validation: Conduct hands-on trials and manufacturing of development parts to validate assembly and related processes and technologies
Process development: Establish robust process parameters for new technologies and systems, guiding manufacturing applications and feasibility studies
Virtual manufacturing tools: Utilize simulation tools to model workflows, automation sequences, and space requirements, informing capacity plans and resource allocation
Lean solutions: Develop efficient equipment layouts, process designs, and product flows to maximize ROI and reduce costs per unit
Automation and technology: Ensure process capability, cycle time, and equipment availability targets are met through automation and advanced technology integration
Documentation and training: Define equipment lists, spare requirements, training needs, work instructions, and safety documentation for production and maintenance teams
Flighy Deck System commissioning: Oversee installation and commissioning processes, driving continuous improvement and root cause analysis to meet SQDC targets
Qualifications/Requirements
Education: Master’s degree in Engineering Mechanical and experience in Technical Project & Design in manufacturing/aviation filed
NPI experience: Proven experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) within manufacturing, including project planning and execution
CAD proficiency: Experience with 3D, 2D AutoCAD, or other CAD packages
Advanced manufacturing tools: Knowledge of 3D printing, rapid prototyping, and virtual manufacturing simulation software
Strong ability to read technical drawings
Manufacturing expertise: Strong background in assembly, including facilities development, robotics, automation, and conveyor technologies
Process optimization: Demonstrated ability to optimize processes for throughput, quality, and availability during design and commissioning phases
Problem-solving methodologies: Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma
FMEA and quality systems: Experience defining FMEAs, cascading critical characteristics into control plans, and developing manufacturing quality operating systems
Supplier collaboration: Experience working with subcontracted suppliers and vendors
Health & safety compliance: Knowledge of H&S and CDM regulations and compliance requirements
Italian and Fluent English language, oral and written
Work Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is required
