Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services supporting the U.S. government, allied partners, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Vehicle Operator (Air Terminal) to support a unique U.S. Navy program located on the remote island of Diego Garcia.
Job Responsibilities
The Vehicle Operator (Air Terminal) is responsible for operating vehicles and specialized equipment in support of air terminal and flight‑line operations in accordance with U.S. Navy transportation and airfield safety standards. Responsibilities include transporting passengers, cargo, baggage, and equipment between air terminal facilities, aircraft parking areas, and designated staging locations.
The Vehicle Operator conducts pre‑ and post‑operation vehicle inspections, ensures vehicles are operated safely around aircraft, and follows airfield driving procedures and instructions from air terminal and airfield operations personnel. This role includes maintaining situational awareness in high‑traffic environments and complying with all flight‑line safety requirements.
Additional duties include assisting with cargo or baggage handling as directed, maintaining cleanliness of assigned vehicles, reporting mechanical or safety issues, and supporting mission‑critical air terminal operations in a remote, fast‑paced environment.
Minimum Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience operating vehicles in transportation, logistics, or air terminal environments
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Basic knowledge of vehicle operation, safety procedures, and traffic regulations
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions and around aircraft
- Must be in possession of a valid Passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport should be valid for a minimum of 1 plus years at the time of hiring.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous work experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce.
- Excellent organizational, time management and customer service skills.
- Valid country driver's license
- Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
