Program Summary
KBR leads the government services world contingency market by providing responsive, full-service logistics support to forces deployed around the world under the Logistics Civil Augmentation Program contract (LOGCAP). KBR’s enduring mission support of the LOGCAP program dates back to 1992 when we served as the contract’s original prime contractor. Job Summary
With minimal guidance, facilitate the production of water for the client by operating and maintaining reverse osmosis water purification unit (ROWPU) or other water purification equipment. Supervise Water Treatment Technicians in the performance of their duties. Enforce safety standards and conduct on-the-job-training. Ability to follow technical instructions, establish equipment maintenance schedules and utilize reference material to improve water mission. Must make rapid, appropriate decisions to improve simple to complex problems, keeping safety a priority. Possess understanding of how bladders affect plant operation and their potential safety hazards. Ability to recognize symptoms of equipment maintenance issues (i.e. membrane fouling/scaling and take corrective actions and provide critical path maintenance planning and support). Must be able to lift 70 lbs. unassisted, and work in extreme climate, in awkward positions, safely with hazardous chemicals, on day/night shift, and must be able to work independently and in a team environment. Possess basic water plant hydraulic and electromechanical operation and troubleshooting skills. Possess basic understanding of water treatment techniques and equipment used in the reverse osmosis process. Mechanical ability to facilitate diagnosis and repair or water treatment equipment; calibrate and maintain inline instrumentation. Effective computer and communication skills Must interface with other KBR departments to improve the water mission; generate and follow up on material requisitions. Must demonstrate knowledge through the passing of a written skills assessment and hands on evaluation. Water treatment license issued by a Department of Health, awarded MOS 77W/92W or two years of course work in water treatment technology preferred. Certain locations may require a valid driver’s license.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Facilitate the production of water by operating and maintaining reverse osmosis or other water purification equipment with minimal guidance from management.
• Oversee water treatment staff, technicians and other personnel in the performance of their duties.
• Enforce safety standards and facilitate applicable on-the-job-training with personnel.
• Ability to recognize and troubleshoot symptoms of equipment maintenance issues (i.e. membrane fouling/scaling to include pump, plumbing, and control issues) and take corrective actions and provide critical path maintenance planning and support.
• Mechanical ability to facilitate diagnosis and repair or water treatment equipment; calibrate and maintain instrumentation.
• Ability to follow technical instructions, equipment maintenance schedules.
• Make expeditious and appropriate decisions to assist in the solving of simple to complex problems, while maintaining safety as a priority.
• Work independently or in a team environment.
• Apply safety when working with hazardous chemicals.
• Ensure employees comply with the company timekeeping policies and procedures.
• Ensure accountability of all Water Treatment materials and property.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Incumbent must possess a proficiency in TB MED 577, TB Med 576 and AWWA standards.
• 5+ years of civilian/industrial water or military water purification operations.
• A valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to lift 70 lbs. unassisted, and work in extreme climate, in awkward positions, safely with hazardous chemicals, on day/night shift, and must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
• Possess basic water plant hydraulic and electromechanical operation and troubleshooting skills.
• Possess basic understanding of water treatment techniques and equipment used in the reverse osmosis process.
• Possess an in-depth knowledge regarding ground water wells and submersible borehole pumps.
Preferred Qualifications
• 1 to 2 years working in a leadership role at an industrial water purification plant or military water purification operations.
• Possess a background in SCADA monitoring systems and troubleshooting.
• Laboratory background is a plus.
• Effective computer and communication skills.
