Technical Writer
KBR is seeking a highly motivated Technical Writer with experience in DoD military standards to join our Joint Technical Data Integration (JTDI) team. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership skills, a strong sense of discipline, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Experience in strategic planning and operations is essential. Your mastery will ensure our documentation meets exacting standards for clarity, comprehensiveness, and technical precision, which are pivotal in maintaining contract compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create Technical Documentation: Produce clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation, including manuals, reports, specifications, and procedures related to defense systems and equipment.
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs): Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other SMEs to gather technical information and translate it into comprehensive, understandable documents and proposals.
- Ensure Compliance: Ensure all documentation and proposals adhere to DoD regulations, standards, and formatting requirements, including security and classification guidelines.
- Review and Edit: Review and edit technical content for accuracy, clarity, coherence, and consistency, ensuring documentation meets high-quality standards and effectively communicates complex information.
- Manage Documentation Lifecycle: Track and manage the lifecycle of technical documents and proposals, including version control, updates, and revisions as needed.
- Additional duties as needed to support customer requirements.
- This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment within the DoD contracting space.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Clearance & Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required. Must have or be able to obtain an active DOD Secret clearance.
Education & Experience: BS/BA and 2(+) years of experience are required, preferably working in the information technology industry.
Skills & Abilities: Must be familiar with DoD Military standard formats & practices and highly skilled in the entirety of the Microsoft Office suite of tools.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with desktop publishing tools and graphics software (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Microsoft Publisher, and Microsoft Visio) for creating visually appealing and technical documentation.
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours/week
Compensation: $60,000-80,000. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
